Charmed...

Charmed...

I have developed a bit of an unhealthy obsession with American TV shows and have recently (thanks to my lovely ex-liquid pal Charly) been working my way through all the many series of 'Charmed' and I am absolutely addicted to it. The reasons for my obsession with Charmed are not yet clear to me, the unconvincing acting and ridiculous story-lines have just got me hooked!

The series is about 3 sisters (Pru, Piper and Phoebe) who happen to become witches one afternoon when their Grandmother dies (...as you do), and the series tells the story of how they deal with the new acquisition of magical powers into their day-to-day lives. They now not only have to contend with their ever dramatic dating activities, but now also have to vanquish demons and save people who are in danger from ''evil'' (good grief, why am I still watching this?).

A typical episode is quite action packed with them starting off by having a good day, then being attacked by a magical being and having to then sort them out before they destroy the world. They then constantly have to refer to 'the book of shadows' (which is supposed to be the source of all their knowledge), so whenever a demon appears or something bad happens, one of them ALWAYS pipes up 'ok, lets go and check the book of shadows' (seriously the book is really not that big, just learn the book already!), they then tootle off, get themselves into trouble and eventually save the day.

Despite the laughable plot, dodgy gushy lines, the enormous fake white teeth that Pru has, the fake giggles and sighs at the (often predictable) happy ending of each episode I CANNOT stop watching it! I can’t explain it but it has to be viewed... for comedy value alone.
