At liquid we have a big appetite: for food and marketing. So when Walkers launched their Do Us A Flavour? campaign it was the best of both worlds.
As you are probably all aware Walkers launched a competition to find a new flavour. We at liquid decided to help them out by conducting our own taste test challenge to determine which we thought was the most appetising: who deserved the £50,000 first prize.
It was a choice between Builder's Breakfast, Chilli and Chocolate, Onion Bhaji, Cajun Squirrel, Fish and Chips and Crispy Duck and Hoisin sauce. As tempting as they all sound (!?) the liquid team approached the task with some trepidation. In fact, only ten people in the office dared take the challenge. Each person was to take a crisp, smell it for flavour and then eat it, a kind of low rent version of wine tasting if you will. They would then give it a mark out of ten and we could declare a winner.
Scores (out of 100)
Onion Bhaji – 61
Crispy Duck and Hoisin Sauce - 53
Builder's Breakfast – 52.5
Fish and Chips – 34.5
Cajun Squirrel – 33.5
Chilli and Chocolate - 24.51
So, there you have it Onion Bhaji is liquid's crisp of choice, although 61 out of a 100 still isn't that great. Now we wait to see what the nation decides.
The winner will be announced in May.
