Last Sunday (May 8th) two of the liquid team - Danny and Gary - ran the Beaverbrooks Blackpool 10K fun run to raise money for TRINITY Hospice in Blackpool. It seemed such a good idea two months ago when they signed up for it – plenty of time to train, take their vitamins and get fit. No sweat.

Except there was plenty of sweat. And blood. And tears. Despite the training, the race took its toll (as you can see from the picture above!). This was no fun run. Bad knees, bad backs and too many of Gary’s chicken eggs meant that it was a gruelling run – even if it was only just over 6 miles.

Over 3,000 people took part, with some dressed as hot dogs, Morph and Bananaman – there was even one man in a chariot being pulled by four others. Running past the tower, the three piers and the ‘tallest, fastest Rollercoaster in the world’ the race took in all the ‘beautiful’ (read tacky) sights on Blackpool front. We think some Hen-dos may have even been confused and joined in with the race.

However, all the effort seemed worth it as both managed to beat their personal best times. Danny ran it in 42.45 to come in 237th – just beaten by a man dressed as Wolverine. Gary finished the race in a very respectable 47.45 minutes (although he was pipped to the post by a man dressed as a giant banana). Well, it was all for a good cause anyway.

After the race it was time to do what everybody does in Blackpool – have a drink. Well, when in Rome…
